Today my husband sprained his ankle doing PT (that's army for "exercising"). He'll be on crutches for a week, and so I have a great opportunity to serve him. I'll admit, that wasn't my first thought. My first thoughts went along the lines of "Oh, great. Extra work for me and no extra set of hands for help." But, God is working on renewing my mind. Once chastened, I saw that I had a perfect opportunity to be More. I can honestly say I enjoyed tending my husband, helping him with all the simple daily tasks that suddenly become complicated when you're on crutches. It was a good reminder to me about what being a "helpmeet" for my husband really means. The trick will be to keep serving even when the crutches are gone.
